Winter Family Forest adventure.
Winter in Adelaide can be cold! But don't let the cold weather put you off updating your family photos, let me tell you my tips and tricks to capturing lasting memories that FEEL warm.
Winter in South Australia is so beautiful, think crisp days, blue skies and moody sunsets, at a perfect time for families to enjoy without pushing bedtime routines out the window! Meeting at around 4:00pm for a connected family adventure, watching the sun set, you will be home before you know it, enjoying a hot dinner, chatting about how much fun you had together questioning why you didn't do this sooner, before tucking the kids into bed at their normal time.
The perfect photoshoot outfit is easy too, comfy warm and lots of texture leaves your photos feeling snuggly and warm. Think comfy knits and jeans/chinos for dad, corduroy pinafore layered over a knit and boots, chinos, chunky knit and teddy jacket for kids and long dresses, linen pants, chunky knits, jeans and boots for mum. Add colours like browns, pinks, creams, olive green and accessories such as beanies and hats, snuggle on a blanket and explore your surroundings.
Is the beach your happy place, collecting shells and listening to the waves? Do you love exploring the forest looking for mushrooms, picking flowers and throwing pine cones? A picnic in the park, with a glass of wine and cheese, making pictures with the clouds? Anything you love doing as a family is a perfect photoshoot idea, capturing your family doing what they love will look and feel authentic to you, feel less forced or posed and will leave you all wanting to do it again, year after year. I have a list of picture perfect locations that we can incorporate an activity your family loves doing together.
The cooler weather brings more movement to your session, through walking hand in hand with your child, a squeezy snuggle attack, Piggy back over the muddy puddles or a small breeze that catches your daughter's curls. Movement brings your images to life and allows for children to show their little personalities. It also brings them in closer for a snuggle to warm up their hands, your warm hands on their little cheeks and an opportunity to snuggle in a blanket, allowing some slow close connected moments to be captured.
Winter can be cold but your family photos can be connected and warm.
